It's hard not to be inspired by Sunday's Virgin Money London Marathon. Perhaps even a little humbled. From the clash of the champions among the elites, second place finisher Wilson Kipsang declared with humility and grace for the winner, "I am happy for my friend (Eliud Kipchoge). It was a very tough and fantastic race." And, the thousands of others pushing themselves to complete this amazing feat – ordinary people doing extraordinary things. And, they did it for countless charities, to be healthier, to be a role model for their kids, or simply for the enjoyment. They each had their own 26.to. And in the process, they inspired the hundreds of thousands who turned out to support them.
This is why Abbott is the title sponsor of the Abbott World Marathon Majors and a sponsor of the London Marathon. Because marathoners from all walks of life represent what we can do and achieve when we are at our healthiest. And, that's why more than 250 of our employees and their families and friends came out on Sunday to cheer for the athletes – and celebrate the power of health.
Maybe today you're lacing up your running shoes with a new goal in mind.
Here are some impressions of a fantastic day. An estimated 38,000 participants made their way through London streets to the roar of the spectators:
